Diaspore from this locality is known for 2 generations as the finest in the world, and has seen a recent revival of interest as gem rough for the gem marketed to the public as czarite or zultanite, sometimes. Sadly, gem crystals like this are often cut for the gem rough value, and we lose them. This fine single crystal was preserved by a mining engineer from a remarkable pocket of elongated gem crystals, all sharp and textbook in form without the twinning we so often see in these. Single gem crystals of this size, and stature, are super rare. This was said to be the finest of its kind, from a pocket found in 2023. It is slightly bigger, slightly thicker, slightly more gemmy, than others we have in this update from a portion of the pocket that we bought from the European dealer who brokered and obtained it. They came out in 2023 and we have not seen this quality reached since - somewhat reassuring. Historically, it is a very important example of a rare gem species from an important locality - but it also is simply beautiful. The luster is somewhat silky. The crystal is more robust than you would expect, and about twice as thick as a nearly similarly sized second example we have in this update.
