Hausmannite on Andradite (Ref: 5272)
N´Chwaning II Mine | Kuruman | Kalahari Manganese Fields | South Africa
65mm x 47mm x 46mm
$909 *
This is an exceptional Hausmannite specimen with several jet-black, partially intergrown octahedral crystals of the manganese oxide. The crystals measure to 1.7 cm on edge. They are sharp and have a beautiful metallic luster. The typical triangular structure are intergrown octahedrons of countless smaller crystals; somewhat reminiscent of a Christmas tree. The Hasumannite crystals are perched on a bed of brick-red Andradite crystals with a nice vitreous luster. Material of this quality was recovered from the N´Chwaning II Mine in the 1980s and 1990s has now become rare. Come and get this excellent specimen from that period.Data last checked on 28th Jul 2024 - specimen may no longer be available
