Fluorite (Ref: hnfl802)
Tongbai, Henan Province, China
115mm x 66mm x 26mm
A very uncommon and quite extraordinary specimen of cream-soda colored Fluorite from Henan, China. This is a cabinet-sized cluster of Fluorite crystals that exhibit a basic cubic form but with intricately stepped faces that give it an attractive waxy luster and a texture reminiscent of lizard skin. As the photos show, it is beautiful whether lit from the front or from behind. In excellent condition. It also FLUORESCES under both shortwave and longwave UV light, where it strangely appears to be opaque rather than translucent as it is under normal lighting (last two photos). Sawn flat on the backside for optimum presentation. Fantastic color and contrast, a nicely balanced composition, and a some very special details all add up to make this an exceptionally attractive display specimen. From my personal collection.
