Sphalerite & Galena (Ref: 5714)

How about a Hungarian classic? Like this great combination specimen with black-brown, Sphalerite and partly cuboctahedral, partly mildly distorted Galena on a matrix of small Quartz crystals. A very contrasting and richly mineralized specimen.I still vividly remember the times in the late 1970s and early 1980s when this material appeared relatively frequently at mineral shows all over Germany, and even more frequently in Austria. Sometimes whole tables full of specimens changed hands. Those times are long gone, the prolific mines have been abandoned for decades and a new supply of good specimens can no longer be found. I consider it a stroke of luck to be able to offer such a good ore specimen from this classic Hungarian mining district with its tongue-twisting name.
