Vesuvianite MANGANESE-RICH (Ref: 5808)

Jeffrey Mine | Asbestos | Estrie | Québec | Canada
28mm x 26mm x 20mm
$2673 *
Look at that color! An incredibly intense purple color with faintly yellow-green sections, which is, as far as I know, only known from the Canadian Jeffrey Mine in Asbestos (recently renamed Val-de-Sources to get rid of the bad aftertaste of “Asbestos”) and these are truly the best-formed crystals in this color variety. This classic Manganese Vesuvianite is significantly rarer than the typically green examples of the species from this location. However, since the closure of the mine, these are now also extremely rare and sought after. Let’s take a closer look at this specimen: Purple, gemmy translucent crystals of impressive perfection are up to 1.6 cm tall. The main crystals are pristine, and there are only a few imperfections at the base, but these are easy to forgive due to the splendor of the colors and overall aesthetics of this great thumbnail. Since the Jeffrey Quarry is now completely closed and these unique Vesuvianite crystals have not been found since this great find in the late 1980s, this is a rare thumbnail specimen in absolute display quality.
