VESUVIANITE bi-color (Ref: 21612)

Jeffrey mine, Val-des-Sources (Asbestos), Les Sources RCM, Estrie, Quebec, Canada
26mm x 25mm x 12mm
$195
A striking specimen of vesuvianite crystals from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. They have from rich and saturated purple color to vibrant apple-green areas. The crystals are gemmy with a glassy luster and strong light reflection. The vesuvianite crystals are well shaped and sharp. The main prismatic crystal is doubly terminated. The vesuvianite is remarkably fresh and sparkling, offering a two side display. The surrounding matrix is richly encrusted with smaller vesuvianite crystals, adding texture and depth to the specimen. The Jeffrey mine produced some of the finest vesuvianite pieces in the world and this is a choice representative. The mine has been closed for many years, making specimens like this increasingly rare and highly desirable. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base., The contrasting tones of purple and green make this an eye-catching example of vesuvianite, sought after by mineral collectors for its unique color palette and well-formed crystals!,
