Very sharp dodecahedral Almandine crystals, one of them dominant, lustrous, and brown in color with reddish tones. The crystals sit in a metamorphic rock matrix formed of innumerable Muscovite crystals. Contrary to the common practice with almandines from this region, the crystals in this piece are not glued, nor have they had their faces retouched or polished, so their natural surface is preserved. A classic Tyrolean specimen.Granatenkogel north slope, Gaisberg Valley, Obergurgl, Gurgler Valley, Ötz Valley, North Tyrol, Tyrol/Tirol Austria
