Amethyst after Calcite (Ref: LP433)

Angular cast of Amethyst crystals that formed as an epimorph atop the termination of a now gone, large Calcite crystal. The smooth faces and hexagonal form the of the former Calcite are evident. The black areas are due to a layer of Hematite that was present between the Amethyst and the former Calcite crystal. Ex. Carl Acosta and Len Pisciotta collections. Len's old label shows a price of $1800.
