Rhodochrosite on matrix from a classic old German locality. The Rhodochrosite occurs as both botryoidal groups and individual scalenohedral crystals. The Rhodochrosite is deep red with a more brown (iron rich?) layer on the surface. The locality is an ancient iron mine, abandoned in 1928, working iron and manganese mineralisations hosted by Devonian schists [MINDAT]. Ex.
