Fluorite on Rhodochrosite & Quartz from Silverton, Colorado (Ref: DC24-SILVERTON)

This is a rather unusal and interesting combo specimen from Silverton, CO. Most rhodochrosite specimens from the American Tunnel are scalendrahedral but this one has a "poof-ball" of pink rhodochrosite. We call this the "Rhodochrosite Fried Egg" because of how it appears against the white quartz and rhyolite matrix. Coating the side of the rhodochrosite ball and much of the quartz is a thin layer of purple fluorite. This specimen appears to be quite old as it has an orginal tag that was hand-typed, but it's unclear what collection it came from originally.
