Rhodonite on Galena (Ref: 6241)

You are looking at an excellent Australian classic: A specimen with several slightly rounded, clearly deep dark red Rhodonite crystals up to 2.4 cm tall which are perched on typically Galena-rich matrix. The individual crystals are wonderfully translucent with an excellent adamantine luster, and most of them have beautiful terminations. This is probably the best known and most sought after combination of the Broken Hill ore body, particularly the North Mine, which was closed in 1993. Over the years, a number of similar specimens have come onto the market but have now almost immediately disappeared. And when they do appear, they fetch astronomical prices. So I think this quality specimen is very reasonably priced.
