Aegirine on Microcline (Ref: 6351)

This is a fabulous specimen with Aegirine on Microcline from Mount Malosa, Malawi whose aesthetic is definitely defined by its extraordinary contrast and clear crystal forms. Sharp, raven-black Aegirine crystals with a vitreous luster are absolutely perfect. They are up to almost 4 cm long, with square cross sections, and are usually doubly terminated. One of the terminations is tapering to a sharp point similar to a pencil, while the other termination is rather slightly frayed and flat. Thes black beauties are perched on light beige, blocky Microcline crystals with a porcelain luster. Some of the crystals show signs of twinning.Specimens with this aesthetic impact and perfection were already rare and sought after during the active times of this deposit and are now hardly available on the market.
