Mottramite on Quartz ps. Calcite (Ref: MOTT-0017)

From a new release of a previous find at the Black Knife group, the specimens from the Mottramite Pocket feature the sharp quartz encrustation pseudomorphs after scalenohedral calcite that the locality has become known for, but were accented with a powdery coating of yellow-green mottramite. This specimen features a cluster of pseudomorphs – some damage reveals that the original calcite is still largely present. The mottramite is very sparse. There is some damage to the terminations of the group, including a broken segment that looks to have been contacting from other portion of the pocket; there is some chipping on the associated calcite, and the lower portion of the reverse is incomplete.
