Mottramite on Quartz ps. Calcite (Ref: MOTT-0029)

From a new release of a previous find at the Black Knife group, the specimens from the Mottramite Pocket feature the sharp quartz encrustation pseudomorphs after scalenohedral calcite that the locality has become known for, but were accented with a powdery coating of yellow-green mottramite. This specimen features a cluster of pseudomorphs – some damage reveals that the original calcite is still largely present. Mottramite is absent on the specimen, but fluorite is not – it is associated as smaller (~1cm) green and purple zoned octahedral crystals of unusual quality for the locality. Additionally, the pseudomorph on the upper left is coated on one side in small pale fluorite octahedra. There is a fair amount of contacting on the specimen (including the zone of fluorite), as well as several areas showing broken pseudomorphs.
