Argentopyrite (Ref: 2369)

Argentopyrite is a rare silver-iron sulphur trioxide, a very seldom encountered species. This miniature is a wonderful example displaying numerous fine and well terminated prisms. This piece is extraodinarily rich, with choice crystals richly lining a vug. The single Argentopyrite crystals showing distinct six-sided habit and they are very slightly tarnished, what gives the normally steel-gray crystals a wonderful iridescent hue. At the bottom of the piece we can see tiny blood-red Proustite crystals as well. Actually the Argentopyrite crystals from here are almost pseudomorphosed into Pyrite, but not this one. They are in very fresh condition with wonderful striation at the prism faces. This is a magnificent example of the species.
